Latest: Dancing With The Stars winner and race car driver Helio Castroneves wept in court on Friday (3Oct08) as he pleaded not guilty to seven counts of tax evasion.

The Brazilian-born IndyCar star was indicted on Thursday (2Oct08) along with his sister and lawyer, accused of failing to pay tax on his $5 million (GBP2.7million) income.

He appeared in court in Miami, Florida on Friday, in handcuffs and leg chains, and told the court, "I am not guilty. I know right from wrong and I did nothing wrong."

Castroneves was released on $10 million (GBP5.4 million) bond, and paid $2 million cash and signed an $8 million (GBP4.32 million) personal surety bond to secure his release.

His sister Katiucia Castroneves and attorney Alan Miller did not enter pleas, and were released on $2 million and $250,000 (GBP235,000) bail respectively.

Kim Kardashian Booted Off 'Dancing with the Stars'

30 September 2008 11:23 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

In a surprising twist to some, TV personality Kim Kardashian has been eliminated from season 7 of "Dancing with the Stars". After a "colder and more distant than Siberia" rumba performance on Monday, September 29, the 27-year-old could not avoid on being sent home on Tuesday, September 30. She becomes the third participant to exit the show after the reality series' premiere last Monday, September 22.

Though her departure is a shocker to some since many predicted that Cloris Leachman or Rocco Dispirito would have to be cut off first, the Hollywood socialite took the elimination positively. Paying tribute to her late father, Robert Kardashian, on her parting words, she said, "I just know he's really happy and watching over me and I know he's really proud." To E! Online, the reality TV star also added, "This was a huge challenge for me. Every dance was a huge accomplishment for me and I did the best I could.

Bass Struggling With Dance Steps

29 September 2008 6:35 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Pop star Lance Bass signed up for TV dance contest Dancing With The Stars to prove to his family and friends he really could boogie - after he was dubbed 'N Sync's worst mover and shaker.

Bass is among the favourites to win the new season of the hit U.S. show, which debuted last week (beg22Sep08), but he's keen to point out he's not the natural many critics think he is.

The Bye Bye Bye singer admits he struggled with 'N Sync's dance routines and he was ridiculed by his former bandmates.

He says, "I was the worst dancer, I can admit it."

Pal Joey Fatone has already showed up to support his former bandmate and Bass hopes the other members of 'N Sync will make an appearance backstage at the show as his run continues.

He adds, "Joey came the first night and I'm pretty sure the rest of the guys will pop in sooner rather than later."

Actor Ted McGinley and comic Jeff Ross have already been voted off the show and Bass' professional partner, Lacey Schwimmer, admits she has her work cut out with the gay icon.

She explains, "I have to keep him going the entire time; he's kind of like a kindergartener, so I have to teach him like that. He has the attention span of a two-year-old, but a cute two-year-old."

Knight Rider: Assessing Its Chances for Survival

25 September 2008 11:30 PM, PDT | From buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news

On Wednesday, NBC brought us a remake of Knight Rider, which looks like it’s in trouble after garnering only 7.3 million viewers. In fact, E! Online reports that Knight Rider's entrance may be comparable to another failed NBC remake, but much worse. If one can recall, Bionic Woman experienced little if not no success at all. With a little push from the writers strike, the show ended after seven episodes. Nonetheless, Knight Rider landed on the third spot following ABC's Dancing with the Stars, which garnered 15.6 million viewers and FOX's Bones, which yielded 9.6 million. Recently, Kristin Dos Santos of E! Online reviewed the first episode of Knight Rider. Find out what she had to say after the jump. Knight Rider is allegedly updated, but despite the fancy-pants look and some name-dropping meant to simulate modernity, the pacing,

Blaine a Big Hang-up for ABC

25 September 2008 10:34 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

The first Wednesday of the new season was interrupted at 9:00 p.m. by an address by President Bush on the current economic crisis, affecting the night's ratings. ABC's Dancing with the Stars was the top-rated show of the night as it scored a 10.3 rating and a 17 share. But the network lost half its audience during a two-hour special, David Blaine: Dive or Death, which definitely wound up as a dive, averaging a 5.0/8 and falling to a 4.2/7 in its final half hour. CBS won the night with solid ratings for all of its programs, producing ratings that were 14 percent higher than those for the comparable Wednesday night a year ago, which it also won.

Heroes Needs A Rescue

24 September 2008 10:38 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

Signs that NBC's Heroes may have suffered a devastating blow after being forced to take a nine-month hiatus due to the writers' strike were apparent Monday as ratings for the season premiere were down 25 percent versus last year's opener. In fact, the heavily hyped two-hour episode matched the series' lowest original episode rating ever. The weak showing redounded to the benefit of CBS, which drew its best Monday premiere week ratings since 2002 and saw its ratings rise 10 percent above the same Monday opener a year ago. ABC also scored strongly with a two-hour season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. With 21.1 million viewers tuning in, it was the night's most-watched show. Likewise, the dancing contest dominated on Tuesday with 18.2 million viewers.

But Ross is remaining upbeat about his loss.

Hart Boycotts Dance Show After Heather Mills Snub

23 September 2008 6:33 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Actress Melissa Joan Hart has boycotted U.S. TV dance contest Dancing With The Stars after she was snubbed in favour of one-legged former model Heather Mills.

The seventh season of the hit show started in America on Monday night, but Hart wasn't watching.

She's still "a little bit" bitter about missing her chance to shine on the dancefloor two seasons ago.

The former Sabrina, The Teenage Witch star says, "I boycott that show because I was supposed to be on it and I got mad.

"The first season they asked me and I was in a contract with Fox and they wouldn't let me out and then second season I was pregnant, third season I was pregnant, fourth season they didn't ask me.

"The fifth season, they were gonna ask me but they replaced me with Heather Mills, or something, so I don't watch anymore."

But she could become a fan again - if show bosses picked her for the eight season.

She adds, "I would love to do it, it would be such fun and I just always wanted to dance."

Nevertheless, Cody told E! News to have no idea whether Miley would consider participating in the future. "I don't know. I have no idea. You'll have to ask Miley," he stated.

Lance Bass: Time Not Right For Gay Couples On DWTS

16 September 2008 10:32 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

Dick Clark's American Bandstand, which debuted in 1956, may have been the first dance show on national television but it wasn't until 30 years later that interracial couples were shown dancing together on USA Network's Dance Party USA. Now, in an interview with E! Online, openly gay Lance Bass, the former 'N Sync member and an upcoming contestant on ABC's Dancing With the Stars, has suggested it may be a long while before two men are seen dancing together on such a show. Bass said that in today's world it would look "silly" to see a same-sex couple on DWTS and that "it would just overshadow everything else going on." Admitting that he has had to work strenuously to learn the routines for the televised competition, which begins on Sept. 22, Bass said that he realizes gay men may be "scrutinized and picked apart" more readily than straight men in such circumstances. "I definitely feel a responsibility of making sure I represent well," he said.

Leachman Missed Dancing With The Stars Twice

7 September 2008 4:02 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Young Frankenstein star Cloris Leachman was twice turned down as a Dancing With The Stars contestant because she was considered too old for the hit show.

The 82-year-old actress will be the oldest star on the show when she dances with professional Corky Ballas in the new season of the talent programme - but she's thrilled to get her chance at last.

She says, "I wanted to do it so my people asked their people to do it and they said, 'No, too old.'"

But Leachman accepts she's not the most ideal dancing partner for the high-energy show: "I take pills for asthma and high blood pressure, and I have very bad osteoporosis.

"But I've learned the foxtrot and now I'm working on the mambo."

The aged actress already has a firm fan base - her co-stars in new movie The Women will be cheering her on.

Annette Bening says, "She's got a body on her. She should win."

Garth's Six Months Of 'Hell'

4 September 2008 9:02 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Jennie Garth faced every mother's worst nightmare when her daughter Lola went down with a mysterious illness, leaving doctors clueless as to her ailment.

Garth had just finished her stint on U.S. TV show Dancing With The Stars earlier this year when her five-year-old daughter was hospitalised.

Shortly afterwards, the star's father died - and she insists both experiences took their toll on her body.

She tells People.com, "I had this six months of hell. I had a sick daughter and then my father passed away, so there was a six-month period in my life when I didn't think about my looks or my weight or my body or anything.

"(Lola) got very sick and we didn't know what was wrong with her... I was basically locked in a closet with her for three months.

"I didn't exercise or eat healthy. I had been a (size) 27 in my jeans after Dancing With The Stars and I was so excited. But it really went back quickly. I definitely gained inches and a size."

Garth, who is now starring in 90210, says her daughter is now recovering after doctors finally made a diagnosis: "It turned out to be a form of Jra (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and we treated her and it's in remission. It was tough, but she's better now."
