Entourage star Jeremy Piven has been forced to deny his "diva" antics cost him the job of hosting a forthcoming fashion event in New York.
The actor hosted Fashion Rocks in 2007 but this year he has been replaced by Rescue Me star Denis Leary - amid rumours that Piven's outlandish demands infuriated staff at last year's event.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix that the star demanded a separate backstage green room and insisted on rewriting the script at the last minute.
The source says, "(Piven) was a nightmare. And it wasn't even funny. (This year will see) a more trustworthy and mature host."
But a representative for Piven has denied that the star acted inappropriately at last year's concert - insisting he worked hard to perfect his onstage routine.
The spokesman says, "Not true. He had his own room, just like everyone else, and came in a week early to work on the script as expected."
Fashion Rocks - a collaboration between musicians and fashion designers - will this year feature performances from Beyoncé Knowles, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake and will air in the U.S. on 9 September.

Matthew Broderick made his name playing the ultimate cool kid in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, only to find a niche playing putzes, losers, and sad sacks. In the black comedy Finding Amanda, directed by veteran television writer Peter Tolan (Rescue Me, The Larry Sanders Show), Broderick once again plays an anti-Ferris—a jittery, tightly wound television writer who swapped alcoholism and drugs for a slightly more socially sanctioned gambling addiction. Over the course of the film, Broderick is emasculated, mocked, fired, threatened, humiliated, and beaten up. It's enough to drive a man to drink, and drink Broderick does, backsliding blearily into his bad old habits. Amanda's gimmicky plot sends Broderick's depressed, anxious hack upriver to the bubbling cesspool of sin that is Las Vegas to convince niece Brittany Snow to check into rehab after descending into prostitution and club drugs. Upon touching down in a city rife with temptation,...

Tatum O'Neal's Rescue Me co-star Denis Leary is convinced the drama series will help the actress stay sober - because her character will also be forced to kick alcoholism.
The star was charged with a minor narcotics offence earlier this month after cops caught her exchanging money with a dealer three blocks from her New York home.
She claimed the incident was her first lapse in sobriety after a longterm battle with drug addition.
O'Neal subsequently joined a recovery program for alcoholics.
And Leary - who plays O'Neal's onscreen brother in the show - is convinced that as her character is battling a drinking problem in the upcoming season, she will be able to put the experience to use in real life.
He tells AOL Television, "(Her character, Maggie) got clean at the end of last year and we have this game plan for her that involves staying sober, so it's probably gonna work in Tatum's favour. We were in the middle of planning the next bulk of Tatum's work before (her drug bust), so she's got a place to come back to."

TV tough guy Denis Leary dreams of trying his hand in a Broadway musical.
The Rescue Me star has been outed as a secret lover of song-and-dance driven shows by longtime pal and series executive producer Peter Tolan.
And Tolan says Leary's insatiable knowledge of musical theatre could likely lead to creating a project of his own.
Tolan tells the New York Daily News, "Here's what you don't know about Denis. I think that Denis may secretly be a musical theatre queen. He has an unusual recall of lyrics from Broadway musicals... it's a little disturbing.
"And whenever we get tired, we talk about the possibility of someday doing a musical. So he has some secret goal here.

Troubled actress Tatum O'Neal has kept her job on TV show Rescue Me, despite her recent drug arrest.
The star was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after cops caught her exchanging money with a dealer three blocks from her New York home. She claimed the incident was her first lapse in sobriety after a longterm battle with drug addition.
And bosses on the FX network programme are keen to give her the chance to prove herself.
O'Neal had already filmed two episodes for the fifth season - and co-creator Peter Tolan expects her character Maggie to return.
He tells BuddyTV.com, "We want to bring her back, and I haven't heard anything about why she wouldn't be available to us. It's a misdemeanour, so she's not going to do time, and nobody has said to us we can't insure her or anything like that. So I'm assuming she's available to us and it's 'business as usual.'"

Emmy's winners for acting are chosen in a three-tier system by actors who belong to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. During the first two weeks of June, they participate in a popular vote that determines a Top 10 runoff in each race. Finalists submit a sample episode of their best work to judges, whose scores are combined by accountants in a 50-50 mix with results of the original popular vote. The five nominees in each category are then announced July 17. Winners are decided based on judges' scores of the sample episodes and are revealed at the awards ceremony to

Latest: Actress Tatum O'Neal will "pull through" her recent drug troubles, according to director Peter Bogdanovich.
The Oscar-winning former child star - who chronicled her recovery from a heroin addiction in her 2004 book A Paper Life - was spotted by a narcotics team exchanging money with a man three blocks from her home in the Big Apple earlier this week (begs02Jun08).
The 44-tear-old was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanour.
But Bogdanovich - who directed her in her Oscar winning turn in Paper Moon - is adamant she will bounce back.
He tells People.com, "She said she was clean and happy to be doing the show (Rescue Me).
"She's a strong woman and has been through a lot. She's a good girl. She's had some tough breaks."
"I'm sure she can (recover). She has a strong spirituality. She should pull out of it."

Apparently hoping to avoid the out-of-sight/out-of-mind syndrome, Sony Pictures Television and FX plan to present ten five-minute episodes of Rescue Me, starring Denis Leary and Peter Tolan, during the summer. The companies announced that while the writers' strike had made it impossible to produce the usual number of hour shows for the fifth season, the "minisodes" are expected "to keep the series top-of-mind in preparation for next season's 22 consecutive episodes." The episodes will also be available online the day following the Fx telecasts at www.crackle.com/rescueme.
