Ibab pointed out that the last one got a little long...
Tashan- Why oh why did I bother watching this? I should have listened to all the bad reviews people on this board were giving it. I guess I was hoping that it would at least have the honor of being "entertainingly bad" like I found stuff like D2 and Race, but no, this one was just plain bad. I'm going to confess though, I thought the first 15 minutes or so weren't heading in a bad direction, but it just went down hill after Kareena escapes with the money. The concept really wasn't even that bad- I mean, you've got a suave, call center exec paired with some crazy gunda from UP, it sounds like, had it been given to a somewhat capable director, it would have at least made a decent action-comedy movie. Oh, and that reminds me- where the heck was the action? I was under the impression that this was an action movie, all we got was maybe two or three scenes of Akshay's stupid fake fighting. Just pitiful. I rarely give movies a score below a 5/10 (I guess I'm just easily entertained), but no! Giving this garbage even a 1/10 is being generous.
Guide- Thank God that my dad happened to rent this too. Just five minutes of this wonderful movie was enough to get Tashan's bad taste out of my mouth. Anyway, excellent film- one that I'm not sure I fully understood, and I know I'll be thinking about for days. I thought it was excellent! My only big problem- the subtitles sucked. It was as if they'd been done by Anil Kapoor's character in Tashan (as in, for those of you fortunate enough to not have seen this, someone with no idea how to speak English who thought they did). It was so full of bad grammar that I had to have my parents pause and translate stuff for me! And they didn't bother to translate the songs (which were beautiful!)I don't know why Eros doesn't bother to make good translations of their classic movies. [

Ok, obviously that's a tangent that I have no intention of deducting points from the actual film for. 10/10
